For Chattahoochee Students

What's in it for you?

The music mentors organization can be thought of as a music tutoring club. You will be able to assist middle school musicians on their class and personal music while gaining valuable teaching and music experience for yourself.

In addition, the time put into this club can be logged for other clubs, such as Beta, and are valuable for the dreaded college applications. Volunteering and contributing to your community? Dunno, sounds pretty good to us :)

Trust us when we say this: being a part of this club will not take much time out of your week, and should not pose stress nor excessive brain work to your person. Now that we are having lessons online, you can schedule your lessons for whenever is convenient for you (see Meetings for more info)

If you thought it couldn't possibly get any better, you'd be wrong. This year, we have multiple leadership positions open for taking. Furthermore, all of the current officers will be graduating after this year, leaving the door wide open for future positions, including President and Vice President. If you would like to be considered for a leadership position, please indicate accordingly when you register.

Also, if you are like us, you may find it oddly satisfying working with these kids and reminiscing about the music you played when you were but an amateur, hoping to be great.

If you would like to volunteer but feel hesitant about your skill level, DON't BE! Many of our students will be learning things you likely consider elementary now, like C major scales and differentiating F sharp from F natural. You will be fine

The only thing we ask of your volunteers is to be willing to log in to Zoom once every other week or so and help a Taylor Road student with his/her music for just half an hour.

Last year, we had about 30 something Taylor Road students sign up for lessons. While that number may go down this year, we really do need all the help we can get.

We hope you'll consider joining us!

Don't Like Reading? Here's a bulleted list of every reason  you should sign up :)

  • We know basically anything anyone does in high school is to get into a good university. Luckily, volunteering for a community-assisting club like ours will be a strong addition to your college application extracurricular resume

  • Mrs. Buonamici has said she'll be more than happy to sign off for any volunteer hours you may need for beta and/or national honors society

  • Teaching is the best way to learn. By volunteering, you will not only gain experience in teaching/working with younger age groups, but will also be able to further your own musical capabilities.

  • Not at all time or energy consuming. If you so desire, this club will take  up but 30 minutes of your day once a week.

  • If there's anything better than being in a club like this, it's leading a club like this, Luckily for you, multiple leader positions are open for this year, as are all positions for the club's future.

  • If you enjoy working with kids at all, please strongly consider joining us
